BPNIC Mourns the Loss of the
Palestinian Revolutionary George Habash
BPNIC
Press Statement,
1/27/2008
BPNIC extends its deepest condolences to the
family, friends and committed staff of Popular Front for the
Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
We mourn the loss of one of the Palestine Liberation Organization's
(PLO) most passionate and thoughtful leaders, and one of Palestine's
greatest statesmen.
The PLO has lost a determined worker on their behalf and all
Palestinians have lost one of the true enormous figures of our time.
For the last three decades, Dr. George Habash was a champion for
Palestinian leadership and democracy around the world, serving as a
strong illustration and crusader for those who stood against
oppression and injustice.
As part of his enduring legacy, Dr. Habash was a committed advocate
for the founding of a strong and viable Palestinian State.
A nationalist icon and revolutionary, Dr. George Habash founded the
PFLP in Damascus-Syria in 1967 and for several years was
secretary-general of the movement, which became one of the three
components of the PLO. |
