BPNIC Memo, December 2008
Message of Ghassan Al Sheik, Secretary-General of
the Palestinian National Interest Committee in Ramallah, on
Palestinian unity, to the Palestinian people.
Salute to you in exile, in the
refugee camps of Lebanon and Syria,
in the Diaspora, in Occupied Palestine including
Jerusalem and
Gaza, and in Israel.
It is time for a
united Palestinian effort
for peace.
The world will struggle for Palestine only when Palestinians are united. The world
will defend Palestine only when Palestinians demonstrate a united effort.
Changing attitudes of Palestinians can change nothing. But
attitudes towards
Palestinians changing can change a lot.
It is easy to judge the atrocities and
fascist genocide of Israel but difficult
to recognize the mistakes of Palestinians. It is easy to provide
border security to Israel but difficult to ensure security for
Palestinians.
Palestinians must continue to seek our
beloved Palestine, by:
- Bridging gaps amongst each other and the rest of the Arab world.
- Shore up support for the
PLO’s drive and the
PNA’s quest for a two state solution.
- Aim to resurrect Palestine for all Palestinian people,
living side by side next to her Jewish neighbor.
- Promote peace
between Palestinians and Israelis.
- The wall of shame and the Israeli blockades in the West Bank numbering 630 are blocking our corridor to independence, and must be torn down.
- Bring the Question of Palestine, especially the suffering of Palestinians, in the
refugee camps, in Gaza
and in Israeli prisons, to the forefront.
Palestinians cannot lose the opportunity for
peace, and must work together to create a State of Palestine,
recognized worldwide.
This is not the time to block minds with sadness and hatred,
it will hinder the opportunity to make peace.
Fraternal Embrace,
Ghassan Al Sheik
