BPNIC Briefing, February 2008
Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim and Palestinian
Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki sign a Brazilian Palestinian
National Interest Committee (BPNIC) fostered agreement that
designates Palestine as a major Arab League ally of Brazil.
The memorandum comprises one of the most comprehensive
agreements ever signed between the two countries, marking a
major turning point in their relations. The agreement
emphasizes the importance of working together to be aware of
the value of their distinctive dialogue and agree to regular
discussions and periodic meetings between the presidents,
between the ministers of foreign affairs, and between the
council of ministers and executive committees of both
nations.
In these meetings, international and bilateral
issues of urgent and significant concern to both nations
will be discussed as appropriate, based upon common goals,
interests and values.
BPNIC reasserts the vital relationship between Brazil and
the Palestinian National Authority, based upon common
interests and values, and is working hard in achieving
economic cooperation; recognize reciprocal benefits from
Palestinian National Authority-Brazil trade agreement.
BPNIC
wishes to strengthen the relationship through the founding
of a broad framework for continued discussion and
collaboration and is working on three additional agreements
in order to achieve this endeavor.
