BPNIC Briefing, March 2007
The Palestinian Liberation Organization
(PLO) Executive Committee briefed the United States that an agreement within the PLO was reached to remain committed to the Road Map and the vision of President Bush of two states. The PLO warned that any interruption of the February 2007 Mecca findings sponsored by the Saudi initiative for calm in the Palestinian territories, would not only lead the way to undue the democratically elected Hamas government, but also to the disintegration of the Palestinian National Authority as a whole.
President Abbas of the Palestinian National Authority meanwhile stated that he remains committed to the agreements signed by the PLO, and the renouncing of terrorism which late President Yasser Arafat announced in 1988.
