The Brazilian Government receives with satisfaction the approval, by
Palestinian Legislative Council, the National Unity Government in the
Palestinian National Authority (PNA). Brazil trusts that such an initiative,
fruits of intense dialogue among the main forces of Palestinian politics, will
contribute to the cooling off of tensions and internal disputes; will facilitate
the wanted normalization of relations between the PNA and the international
community; and will stimulate the peace process, in accordance with the Road Map
for Peace and the agreements already signed among the parties.
The Brazilian Government manifests its full disposition to support cooperation
initiatives for the improvement of life conditions in the Palestinian
territories and to the consolidation of local institutions. Brazil reiterates
its support to the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and an
independent State, sovereign, geographically united and economically viable, in
peaceful coexistence with Israel.
