On March 18, 2009, the Committee of Foreign Relations and National Defense
(CREDN) of the House, approved a bill authorizing the Federal Government to
donate land in Brasilia for the future premises of the Embassy of Palestine.
On March 30, 2009, CREDN ratified the bill (PL 4385/09) that authorizes the

According to Parliament (Nilson Mourão), this initiative is in line with
historical positions of the Brazilian diplomacy of friendship, cooperation, and
especially support of peace between Palestinians and Israelis. "The donated land
for the construction of the embassy is a symbolic gesture of respect that the

defends solidarity internationally and for the formation of a sovereign
Palestinian state, geographically cohesive and economically viable", reported
the Leadership of PT in the House.
