The Wall of Shame By Mayda Bamie, Palestinian Ambassador in
Brazil (2006-2007)
During 28 years, from 1961 to 1989, the Germans lived divided by a wall of
bricks and barbed wire. The wall of shame finally tumbled, and the world,
thought they would never again see the shame repeat itself. But it did repeat.
The new wall of the shame is 8 meters tall and extends 750 kilometers
surrounding the West Bank including the Eastern sector of Jerusalem. It was
erected by the government of Israel to keep the Palestinians at distance.
